Born in Hampton County, he was a son of the late George Nelson Bowers and Josephine Crews Bowers. He was a manager at Howard E Thomas Amoco station and a member and elder of Northside Christian churches in South Carolina, and was a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs Valaree Stone Bowers; a son, Dr H Mark Bowers of Walterboro, and a brother, John L Bowers of North Charleston.
Services will be held at 11 am Wednesday at Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, with burial in Bowers Cemetery in Brunson.
