Carl R. Anderson Ex-Soldier Buried here Tuesday

Funeral service for Carl R. Anderson, a former soldier of the United States Army, was held Tuesday afternoon at the American legion hall, with Rev. J. B, Thompson, pastor of the Methodist church, conducting the rites. The military burial service was conducted at the graveside by Guy Taylor Post No. 62, of Albany. Burial was in the Albany Cemetery.

Death was attributed to a hemorrhage and occurred Sunday morning in the Veterans hospital at Legion, Texas, where he had been receiving treatment the past three months. His condition had been reported as improving and his death was a distinct shock to his family and friends.

Carl was born March 26, 1916 in Stephens county and come with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.U. Anderson, to Shackelford county in 1926. He was a student in the Albany high school when at the agge of 18 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, beginning his dutes as a soldier June 10, 1934.

After serving his three year enlistment, he signed up for another period, having been stationed at Fort Bliss during his service in the army.
It was there while on maneuvers, the his lungs became affected from alkali diet, and impaired his health. he was given a medical discharge shortly before his second period ended.

In January, 1941 he was married to Miss Louise Roberson of Moran. The couple had made their home in Albany most of the time until he entered the hospital at Legion last November.
