Eddy was named after his paternal grandmother Hannah Eddy's family name; Hannah was b. ca. 1704. With his 4 brothers, Eddy fought in the Revolutionary War in the Albany County Militia, 13th Regiment. Eddy was in Stillwater, Albany Co., New York in 1790 and in Milton, Saratoga Co., New York in 1800.

Eddy's vital information is not certain, but the 1800 Census indicates he was 26-45 years old as was his wife. They had one daughter aged 16-26, two daughters aged 10-16, one daughter who was under 10 years of age and three sons under 10 years of age. Eddy was named in the will of his stepmother dated September 14, 1809. Also, there was an There was an 'Edy Millard" of Manlius, Onondaga who appeared as an 'insolvent' on April 8th in perhaps 1816 as noted in the April 5, 1817 'The Evening Post' of NY, NY.

Eddy was mentioned in the History of Saratoga County, New York, pub 1878 by Nathaniel Bartlett Sylvester, in his description of the "Public Highways Laid Out For The District of Saratoga by the Commissioners Of Roads, 1784":

""Road No. 10. - Begins at the north line of lot No. 9, near Eddy Millard's house, at a maple stump; thence southwesterly down the hill the east side of the brook; thence across the brook to the old bridge crossing the outlet of the lake in Ballston; thence up the hill to the corner of Mr. Middlebrook's field, a little west of his house..."

Also mentioned in that book on p. 382, Eddy's brother: "The town of Malta was formed from Stillwater, March 3, 1802. A portion of Saratoga was added March 28, 1805. The first town-meeting was held at the house of Michael Dunning, Jr., April 6, 1802. The following officers were chosen : ... Constables ... Eleazer Millard, Jr." Was he the Eleazar Millard who fought in the War of 1812?

On p. 384 Eddy's brother Barzillai is mentioned: "During the same period [1812-1843] the following inspectors were in office one or more years each : Barzillai Millard"
