Frank Lee Weisenborn, 89, died peacefully Jan. 12, 2015, surrounded by family members in Portland. Frank was born Feb. 26, 1925, to Leonard and Lydia (Romberg) Weisenborn of Portland. He was preceded in death by his three brothers and two sisters. He was a graduate of Reed College, Class of 1945, and received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Washington, followed by post-doctoral studies at Harvard and UCLA. An employee of Bristol-Myers Squibb for 38 years, he was the director of the division of organic chemistry at the Squibb Institute for Medical Research and had scores of patents to his name. He was a contributor to the American Chemical Society for over 60 years. He was an accomplished clarinetist and avid golfer and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, who resides in Bend and Pebble Beach, Calif.; children, Alan (Dulce) of Miami, Eric of Beaverton, Lynn (Michael) Appleby of Charlottesville, Va., and Robert (Leigh Anne) of Lambertville, N.J.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
