The following obituary was published on the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review website in May of 2013:
"Kathleen 'Kathy' (Hunnell) Barclay, 59, of Oakland Park, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of East Pittsburgh, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, at her home. She was born Sept. 3, 1953, in Pittsburgh. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes (Joyce) and Air Force Tech. Sgt. Charles Hunnell and a sister, Charlene Cooley. She was lovingly taken care of and survived by her devoted husband of almost 42 years, Jim; and two loving children, Katie, at home, and Jimmy (Sara), an Air Force staff sergeant, stationed at Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., where he is an information controller. Kathy is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Lou (Denny) Zeravica, of North Huntingdon, and Joanne (Dan) Dryburgh of Orlando, Fla.; brother, Dan (Patti) Hunnell, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother-in-law, Chuck Cooley, of East Pittsburgh; and nieces and nephews, Denny (Jenn), Justin (Julie), Kyle, Carrie (Justin), Cade, Zayn, Baylor, Austin, Lexy (Zeb), Jameson, Kristen, Jordan, Chad, Erik, Jade (David), Christian, Chloe, Jylian (Brandon), Raivyn, Juliette, Danny, Alexa, Andrew and Joshua. Kathy was also the daughter-in-law of Kay Barclay, of East Pittsburgh, and the late Hank Barclay. Jim and Kathy lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. for almost 40 years, moving from East Pittsburgh in 1973. She was an executive secretary for the Broward County School Board. Kathy loved her dogs, Nicki and D.O.G, who will be lost without her. She was an avid reader and a huge Steelers fan. 'Go Steelers!' and 'Cheers!' were her favorite sign-offs. She brought much joy to all who knew her. Kathy was kind, loving and nurturing. She will be greatly missed by family and many, many friends. A celebration of Kathy's life will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Elks Lodge in Oakland Park, Fla.
