He graduated from Arlington Memorial High School in 1947 and from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., in 1951. In 1955, he received he bachelor of divinity degree from Drew Theological Seminary in Madison, N.J., and was ordained as a deacon in the United Methodist Church. He served as pastor of churches in Berlin, Mayfield, Johnville, Ticonderoga and Granville, N.Y., until his retirement in 1973.
Upon his retirement from ministry, he and his brother, Raymond Clark, went into the retail grocery business. He operated Clark's IGA in Poultney from 1973 to 1988 and also Clark's IGA in Bennington, Vt., from 1979 to 1981. He retired from the grocery business in 1988.
Rev. Clark was an active member and past president of the Poultney Rotary Club and also a member of the Lake St. Catherine Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janet Elizabeth (Campbell) Clark of Poultney; two daughters, Sara L. Glennon of Brattleboro, Vt., and Heather C. Lyons of Middle Granville, N.Y.; two sons, Eric C. Clark of Wilmington, N.C., and Timothy P. Clark of Ludlow; three sisters, Martha Smith of Danby, Vt., Gladys Colburn of Portland, Ore., and Ruth Slater of East Arlington; two brothers, Addison Clark of Poultney and Raymond Clark of Ocala, Fla.; ten grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington.
