Mrs. Orson Bromley
Arlington - Mrs. Bertha Caroline Bromley, 88, widow of Orson E. Bromley, who had resided in East Arlington since 1898, died Sunday at Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington after a brief illness.
A daughter of Martin F. and Caroline (Ray) Barney, she was born in Bennington, Aug 23, 1875. Her schooling had been received in Bennington and she was married in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. They resided for a short time in Shaftsbury before moving to Arlington.
Mrs. Bromley, was experienced in crocheting and fancy work. She was a member of the Old First Church in Old Bennington.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. George Bentley, Mrs. Leland Rudd, and Mrs. Maynard Grout of Arlington and Mrs. Joseph Nadeau of North Bennington; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Nora Dion of Arlington, a brother Charles Barney of West Orange, N.J.; a sister Miss Ella Barney of Keene, N.H., nephews, nieces and cousins. A daughter, Mrs. Emery White, died in 1961 and a son, Charles, died in 1940.
The funeral will be held at 2pm Tuesday at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Arlington with the Rev. A.J. MacDonald, Shaftsbury Methodist Church pastor, offciating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 - 9.
