George W."Tex" Powell was originally from Oklahoma, but the Powell family had lived in Texas, Arizona, California, and Idaho. After coming to Oregon, "Tex" worked in the woods driving skid teams bunching logs. The work he enjoyed most was herding sheep in the Pokegama area. He worked for several differenet sheep owners. He passed away herding sheep in the Round Lake area.
George married Abbagill and they came to Keno in 1927 with 3 of their 6 children; E.V., Iola and Ivy Powell.
