Helen Aileen Burkheimer, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday morning, Aug. 13, 2016, a journey for which she had prepared her entire life.
Helen was born in San Angelo on Dec. 29, 1925. She met her husband, Dale, in 1947. She traveled the world as an Air Force wife, working as a telephone switchboard operator and raising four children. She was very active with the Baptist church in each and every community they lived, most recently a member of North Pointe Baptist Church in Hurst. Helen was also a volunteer at the AIDS Outreach Center in Fort Worth for over 23 years.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Jackson and Laura Bullock; husband of 60 years, Dale Burkheimer; daughter, Victoria Bensley; son, Robert Burkheimer; and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors: Helen leaves behind a son, Rex Burkheimer and wife, Celia; daughter, Kathi Burkheimer; grandchildren, Amy Long and husband, Michael, Brent Burkheimer and wife, Anna, Susan Burkheimer and Shawn Benton; great-grandchildren, Victoria Long and Chase Long; extended family; and a host of lifelong friends. Heaven has a new angel. We miss her already.
