The funeral for Darlene Kjosa, 54 of Leeds was held Fri. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Leeds. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died June 1, 1997 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.
Fr. Matt Lanz officiated. The Nelson Funeral Home of Leeds was in charge of arrangements.
Darlene Ann Kjosa was born Oct. 21, 1942 to John "Jack" & Anna Louise Dooley McGarvey in Brinsmade. In 1945 she moved with her family to Leeds, where she grew up & attended school. She graduated from Leeds High School in 1960 & worked as a waitress in Devils Lake. She married Robert Kjosa Aug. 2, 1961 in Sisseton, SD. They lived in various places in South Dakota, Minnesota & North Dakota. They operated Bob's Bar in York from 1972 to 1974. From 1979 to 1981 she operated Dolly's Cafe in York.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Leeds & its altar society. She served on the Leeds School Board for 8 years & was a former member of the York Legion Auxiliary & the Harlow VFW Auxiliary. She assisted with the 1996 Leeds School Reunion.
Survivors include her husband; 2 daughters, Sandra Austin of Minot & Connie Elverud of Leeds; 2 sons, Robert Jr. of Waukegan, Ill. & Paul of Spokane, Wash.; 5 grandchildren; her parents of Leeds; a brother, Robert McGarvey of Leeds; & a sister, Jackie Johnson of Leeds.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Chelsey Austin.
