Helen Cecilia (Hayek) Posusta was born on Thursday; November 22, 1917 in rural Toledo; Tama County, Iowa. She was the daughter of: Frank A. and Anna (Pokorny) Hayek. Helen graduated from Mount Mercy Academy in Cedar Rapids; Linn County, Iowa. On Tuesday; April 3, 1945 she was united in marriage to George Posusta at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in rural Toledo, Iowa. She taught country school for a while, then after raising her children, she was a cook for Saint Patrick's Catholic School and Big T Maid-Rite, as well as several other part time jobs. Helen was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church where she was active in the CCW. She was also a member of the Garden Club and various card clubs. Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, gardening and flowers. She was an avid Hawkeye fan. Helen's greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Helen Cecilia Posusta, age 89, passed away on Saturday; November 25, 2006 in the Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa due to a short illness. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her four sons: Jim (Barb) Posusta of Gladbrook; Tama County, Iowa. Stan Posusta of Parachute; Garfield County, Colorado. Steve (Diana) Posusta of Phoenix; Pima County, Arizona and Robert Posusta of San Angelo; Tom Green County, Texas. Her two daughters: Marilyn (Tom) Meyer of Sioux Falls; Minnehaha County, South Dakota and Joanne (Roger) Wacha of Toledo; Tama County, Iowa. Her fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her three brothers: George (Dorothy) Hayek of Elberon; Tama County, Iowa. The Reverend Msgr. Stan Hayek of Charles City; Floyd County, Iowa and Bernie (Rosie) Hayek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her two sisters: Sister Michelle Hayek of Wahoo; Saunders County, Nebraska and Sister Phyllis Ann Hayek of Omaha; Douglas County, Nebraska. Also many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: George in 1963; one son: Lester in 1977; one granddaughter: Robin; three brothers: Wesley, Frank, and Leonard Hayek; three sisters: twin sisters in infancy and Lillian. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday; November 27, 2006 at the funeral home with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday; November 28, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Tama, Iowa with Father Michael Mescher officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery in rural Toledo.
