Louise Sheriff, 91, of Aledo died Tuesday March 31, 2009 at the Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo. Services are 2:00 PM Saturday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg, Illinois. Visitation is from 5-7 Friday at Fippingers. In lieu of flower, memorials may be left to the Mercer County Nursing Home or Serenity Hospice.
She was born May 23, 1917 in Gladstone, IL a daughter of Jackson Walter and Ethel Mae LaViene Sebring. She graduated from Keithsburg High School and married Paul Sheriff February 26th 1938 in Burlington. He died in 1991.
During her life, Louise was a homemaker, 4 H Leader and Sunday School Teacher. She farmed with her husband for many years before retiring to Aledo.
Her memberships include the Center Presbyterian Church in Seaton, the Order of the Eastern Star and prior to her illness she was an active member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed playing bridge, dancing in her earlier days and for many years volunteered at the Mercer County Fair.
Survivors include her children Janet (David) Larson; John (Elwanda) Sheriff all of Keithsburg, IL; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister Maxine Johnson of Long Beach, Ca.
Her parents and her husband Paul preceded her in death.
