Fredrick Sheriff, 86, Keithsburg, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Community Memorial Hospital, Monmouth.

Services are 1:30 p.m. today at First Christian Church, Keithsburg, with the Rev. Eric Thompson officiating. Burial is in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Visitation was Monday at the church, with a Masonic service conducted by Robert Burns Masonic Lodge 113. Memorials may be made to Greenmound Cemetery Association, Keithsburg Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service, Robert Burns Masonic Lodge 113 or Keithsburg Christian Church. Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, handled arrangements.

He was born Jan. 31, 1915, in Keithsburg, a son of John and Almarine Weightman Sheriff. He graduated from the former Keithsburg High School. He married Beulah L. Roland of Memphis, Mo., March 29, 1941. She died Oct. 30, 1998.

He was engaged in farming on the Sheriff family farm during most of his lifetime. After retirement, he and Beulah spent many happy winters in Arizona.

Fredrick was an active member of the Keithsburg community. For many years, he was a trustee of Greenmound Cemetery Association. He was an active member of Robert Burns Lodge 113 and Mary Burns Chapter 24 of Eastern Star in Keithsburg. He was a member of the West Central Illinois Shrine Club; Tucson Lodge 4, AF and AM, Tucson, Ariz.; Sabbar Temple of Tucson and Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline, Consistory.

Survivors include a grandson, D.J. and his wife, Leslie, Sheriff, Aledo; two sisters, Lucile (Mrs. Kenneth) Darrah, Reno, Nev., and Marion Sheriff, DeKalb, Ill., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beulah; a son, Donald W. Sheriff; and a brother, Paul W. Sheriff.
