James Louis Wesson, 68, of Mexico, formerly of Prescott, Arkansas, passed from this life Thursday August 11, 2016, at his home in Mexico, Missouri after a lengthy illness.

There will be a visitation in Mexico on Monday, August 15, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Laneburg United Pentecostal Church in Laneburg, Arkansas, with Rev. Bob Fruen officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery also in Laneburg. Arrangements in Arkansas are being handled by Brazzel/Cornish The Funeral Home of Prescott.

Mr. Wesson was born in Benton, Arkansas on March 20, 1948, a son of Wilburn and Jessie (Gatlin-Phelps) Wesson. On September 15, 1978, he married Darlene Siebert in Prescott, Arkansas. Mrs. Wesson survives at the home in Mexico.
In addition to his wife of 37 years he is survived by one daughter, Pamela Edmondson and husband Dewayne; one granddaughter, Brittnee Edmondson, and one grandson, David Levi Edmondson, all of Prescott; one step-son, Christopher Powell and wife Nicole, of Dekalb, Texas; two step-granddaughters, Victoria Powell and Katlynn Powell; and one step grandson Ethan Powell; four brothers, Douglas Wesson and wife Freda, of Laneburg, Lonnie Wesson and wife Kaye, Prescott, Rev. Wilbur Wesson and wife Patsy, Laneburg, and Rudy Wesson of Salem, Oregon; one sister Peggy Holt; five half-brothers, Philip Phelps and wife Lupe, Los Angeles, California, Patrick Phelps, Greenbrier, Arkansas, Michael Phelps and wife Leora, Salem, Oregon, David Phelps and wife Shelley, Oxnard, California, and Daniel Phelps and wife Audrey, Midland, Texas; also surviving are his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and his special friend Charlie Goldsborough of Altamont, Illinois, as well as many other friends. He also leaves his chair companion Betsy the Beagle.
Memorials may be made to Mexico United Pentecostal Church or to the New Salem Memorial Methodist Church Cemetery at Laneburg.
Mr. Wesson was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son, 2 brothers, Allen Wesson and baby Wesson; one sister, Nita Gail Clark.
