Sept. 23 1998. She was born April 3 1917 in
Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Mary
(Lovas) Chmiko. She lived most of her life
in the Ashley and Elsie area and was a
member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church and
Jenota Lodge #721 in Bannister, MI.
She married Steve Fabus in St. Cyril's
Church on Feb. 25 1936. He preceded her
in death in June of 1976.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Barbara
Fabus of Saginaw, Elaine (John) Kuchar
of Henderson, one son, Richard Fabus of
Saginaw, two grandchildren, Sharon Kuchar
of Lansing, Michael (Neva) Kuchar of Austin,
Texas, four sisters; Helen Sipkovsky of
St. Johns, Sally Foreit of Elsie, Thelma
(Ken) Rowan of Ontario, Canada, Carole
(Dewey) Custer of Ashley, two brothers; Paul
Chmiko of Owosso & John (Nancy) Chmiko of
St. Johns. Special thanks to her two
caregivers, Olean Bodford and Eleanor
Williamson. She was predeceased by her
parents and one brother, Joe of New Jersey.
Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 26 at
St. Cyril's Catholic Church. Burial was at
Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County with Rev.
Frs. R.K. LeFleur and Max Frego officiating.
Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurses of
Saginaw or the Arthritis Foundation.
The family was served by the Smith Funeral
Homes in Elsie.
