Daughter of Fredrick and Barbara Tabor Bertschy of Chaffee County, Colorado. It was Lake County when she was born, but eventually that part of Lake County became Chaffee County. She married John O'Malley in 1886 or 1887 who had come from Wisconsin to look for gold. They stayed in Colorado until the 1920's, when they moved to Los Angeles and they opened O'Malley's Grocerteria.
