Left Sauk County, Wisconsin in the 1880's to become a gold miner around Empire, Colorado. The name of the mine was "The Minnesota Mine", according to family history. He met Carrie Bertschy, of Chaffee County, somewhere around there and married her in 1886 or 1887. They lived in Florence, Colorado until the early 1920's when they moved to Los Angeles, California & opened "O'Malley's Groceteria", a little place that sold groceries. Their children, Raymond and Genevieve, and their families came to L.A. soon after. John passed away there in 1944.
