She then married Albert J Searles on Dec 14, 1890 in Dryden, Lapeer, Michigan. When Albert and another child died in Hartsell, Morgan, Alabama, Della came back to Michigan, to live with her niece, Addie Bell Tallman, daughter of Jesse F Sole, Della's brother.
Obit of Philena (Sole) Wardell-Searles
"Mrs Philena Searles, pioneer of Novesta Twp, passed away Sunday, April, 18 at the home of Mr and Mrs Roland Bruce of Lapeer.
Once more the Angel of Death has visited our midst and removed one of our old pioneers to whom our country owes so much. Let us bow reverance before those old pioneers who have so bravely the hardships of frontier life.
Let us never neglect an opportunity to brighten their lives or cheer their declining years, for our debtedness to them can neither be understood nor paid. She leaves two sisters, Mrs Roda Patton of Lapeer and Mrs Lois Mattoon of Pontiac. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 21, in Lapeer. The remains were interred in the Moshier Cemetery in Hemans."
Thanks to Barb LaJoie for providing the obit on Nov 21, 2013.
