Thomas H. Grimes, age 84, resident of Brainerd, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society – Bethany. Thomas was born October 18, 1927 in Ft. Ripley to Henry and Mary (Burtrum) Grimes. He serviced in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the WWII Last Man's Club, VFW life member, R F Club and the American Legion. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Thomas was employed as an account with Warner Electric in Brainerd, Apperts in St. Cloud, REA in Ladysmith, Wisconsin and was later self employed as an accountant.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; 1-son, Dennis (Shelley), Brandon, FL; 3-daughters, Deborah (Marc) Mayne, Forest Lake, MN, Barbara Bloom, Apple Valley, MN, Mary (Mike) Thompson, Hugo, MN; 8-grandchildren; 3-step children, Pat (Jack) Gard, Brainerd, John Benjamin, Minneapolis, Dennis Benjamin, Moorhead, MN; 2-step grandchildren and 7-step great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine in 1981 and grandson, Wayne Benjamin.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with Deacon Roger Marks officiating. Visitation will be held the hour before services. [Nelson-Doran Funeral Home]
