Eli Keen is found on a list of free white male inhabitants of Grainger County, Tennessee in 1841. Also appearing on this list is a Fleming Keen, although the nature of any kinship between these two men, if any, is unknown to me as of this time.

Eli Keen is found with his wife, Nancy and eight of their children in the 1850 Monroe, Kentucky Census. The names of the children listed in the household are Mary, Arabella, Joseph, Nancy, James, Matilda, Adaline and Jane. There is another daughter, Sarah Keen, born 1823, who married Alfred Smith Doss who is found living next door to them. All of the children were born in Tennessee, with the exception of Jane, who was born in Kentucky. This Census also notes that Eli Keen is working as a Mason.
