Paul I. Holsinger, 89, Roaring Spring, died Wednesday morning at The Village at Morrisons Cove after a brief illness.
He was born in McKee, son of the late Raymond and Marie (Nofsker) Holsinger.
On Aug. 18, 1948, he married Louise A. Hiney in Roaring Spring.
Surviving are his wife, a resident at The Village at Morrisons Cove; three sons: Timothy C. Holsinger of Bluffton, S.C., Thomas M. Holsinger and wife, Joyce, of Roaring Spring and Cristopher P. Holsinger and wife, Christina, of Roaring Spring. Also surviving are Linda G. Ambrosini, who was raised in the home like a daughter, and husband, John, of Duncansville; four grandchildren: Michael, Tyson (Erin), Stephen and Emily; three brothers: James Holsinger and wife, Ann, Earl Holsinger and wife, Joan, and Arthur Holsinger; a sister, Arlene Leonard and husband, Jack; and a very special niece, Joanna Ball and husband, Charlie, of Roaring Spring;
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Blair and George Holsinger; and two sisters: Jeanne McChessney and Mae McChessney.
Paul was a graduate of Roaring Spring High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He retired from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. with more than 38 years of service.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring, and he served as a Roaring Spring Borough Council member for 24 years, 10 of which he served as president. He then served as mayor of Roaring Spring for 22 years. He was also a member of Iron Master's Country Club, Ray-Camp VFW and Murray-Appleman American Legion, all of Roaring Spring. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and watching Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers football.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring, Pastor Kevin Locker officiating.
Inurnment will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring, at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul's memory may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church, 434 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
