In 1914 Katie graduated from Limestone College, Gaffney, SC with a B.A. in music. Later she was awarded a scholarship to study piano at Fountainbleau School of Music in France. Being an accomplished musician, Katie then began a long rewarding career teaching music and serving as church organist in several cities.
Katie's husband, Francis F. Andrews, preceded
her in death in 1960. Katie died at Brookridge
Retirement Community in Winston-Salem, NC on April 29,1998. Katie is buried at City Cemetery in Lauren, SC. next to her parents, Daniel Pickens Goggans and Mary Elizabeth Anderson Goggans.
