Mr. Guy Branch, age 67, of Vidalia, died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at his home after a sudden illness. He was a native of Appling County, a 1967 graduate of Appling County High School, where he was a S.T.A.R. Student, and lettered all four years in Baseball. He was a 1972 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology earning an Industrial Management Degree, and also served on the Board of Trustees for four years. He moved to Toombs County in 1972, and taught at Toombs Central and Vidalia High School, and was head baseball coach at Vidalia. He began his career in the paper industry, and worked as a salesman with Coleman paper. In 1990, he and his partner founded Pineland Paper Company where served as the CEO and President until his death.  He was an avid runner, and ran in the first Onion Run, and every subsequent run of the Vidalia Onion Festival for thirty-nine years. He was an Elder and was a member of the Vidalia Presbyterian Church for twenty-five yesterday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edison Branch, Sr. and Linnie Jane Clark Branch; and a brother, T.E. Mr. Branch is survived by his wife, Melissa Branch of Vidalia; four children, Tommy Branch and wife Sarah of Savannah, Ricky Branch of Vidalia, Ginny Thomas of Dublin, and Marybeth Gay and husband Wesley of Vidalia; one sister, Carolyn Branch Mullis of Baxley; and five grandchildren, Blaire, Eli, Asa, Anna Kate, and Sawyer.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Jay Warthen officiating. A private family burial will be at a later time.

The family will receive friends at the Vidalia Presbyterian Church on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00.

Mr. Branch will be available for viewing at the funeral home from 8:00 until 11:00 on Tuesday.
