Verna was born on August 10, 1920 in Penn Township, McLeod County to Christ and Emma (Rettmann) Wilhelm. She married Harry Winter on October 12, 1938 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Penn Township. The couple settled in Arlington early in marriage and owned and operated the Hardware Hank store.
Verna is survived by son Darris (Terri) Winter of Cohasset, daughter Darlene Harris of Clakamas, OR. and son-in-law Duane Parpart of Arlington, 9 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren; sisters Bernetta Alsleben of Brownton and Ruth Clausen of Jordan. Verna is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry Winter, daughters Muriel Parpart and infant daughter Janet and brothers Reuben and Maynard Wilhelm.
