GENOA -- Richard Dean Pearson, 90, of Genoa, passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, in Genoa.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, at the United Methodist Church in Genoa. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the West Hill Cemetery.

Dick was born on April 21, 1924, near Genoa to Edward and Alice (Jacobsen) Pearson. He attended Genoa Public School graduating in 1941. He farmed with his father until 1960 at which time he entered the construction business with his cousin, Harold Pearson. He retired in 1989 after spending the last 20 years as head carpenter for Sack Lumber Company in Genoa.

In 1952, Dick was united in marriage to Muriel Nelson. To this union was born one son, Douglas. In 1987 Dick married Darlene (Major) Nelson.

He was a member of the Genoa United Methodist Church, member of the Genoa Lions Club for over 50 years, active with the Genoa U.S. Indian School Foundation, Genoa City Museum, donor at every blood drive in Genoa, and other community projects.

Survivors include son, Douglas (Susan) Pearson of Genoa; grandchildren Katie and Danny; brother, Edward (Bonnie) Pearson of Citrus Heights, California; nephew Kirk and niece Ann Marie; stepdaughters Renee (Robert) Schmaltz of Lincoln and Denise (Mike) Halloway of Omaha; step-grandchildren Matthew, Nathan, Bethany and Drew, and special friend Jane Swanson.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife Darlene on April 27, 1998, and sister-in-law Coleen.
