Stanley E. Brunton, 83, of Herman died May 1, 1988, after a lengthy illness.

He was born January 23, 1905, at Herman to John Wesley and Viola E. (Souder) Brunton.

Stanley was united in marriage to Norma Higgins August 27, 1932, in Wayne. He worked as a mechanic for several years for International Harvester in Tekamah before his retirement.

Stanley was a lifetime member of Landmark Lodge 222, A.F. and A.M. of Herman and Tekamah Lodge 31, A.F. and A.M., Macke Chapter 24, R.A.M of Tekamah, Jordan Commandry 15 of Blair, Triad council of Tekamah and was Deputy Grand Lodge Custodian for 27 years.

He was a member of the Herman Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years, and was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church at Tekamah.

Survivors include his wife Norma Brunton of Herman, one daughter, Peggy (Mrs. James E. )Thomas of Omaha, one son, Monty Brunton of Herman, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and sister Mildred Brunton of Lincoln.

Funeral services were held May 3 at the Herman Legion hall with Rev. Thomas E. Robson officiating. Interment was in the Herman Cemetery.

Hamel and Peck Funeral Home of Tekamah handled the arrangements.
