Richard H. Anderson passed away on August 7. A memorial service with reception is planned for October 1, 5 pm at the College Avenue United Church of Christ, 1341 College Ave, Modesto, CA.
Born in Osceola, Nebraska to Mabel and Albin Anderson, he lived and worked on a farm and walked to school in town after he milked the cows and cooked breakfast for the hired hands. After serving in the Army in the South Pacific during WWII, he married Glenna I. Berck in 1947, also of Osceola. They moved to Modesto in 1953, where he had accepted a teaching job. He worked in several Modesto schools teaching Special Education and ended his career in Stockton as a school counselor.
His brother Carl, brother Donald, sister Mary Jean, son Lynn, wife Glenna and devoted companion Mary Rose Shelton preceded him in death.
He is survived by sister Doris Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; sons Eric (wife Laura) of Springville, Utah; Mark (wife Margie) of Richmond, California; Carl of Modesto; and daughter-in-law Cindy Anderson (Lynn) and Steve Lauritsen of Ceres. He has two granddaughters, Kristen and Kaela Anderson of Ceres, daughters of Lynn and Cindy.
