Vola Margaret Callaway Beard, 96, of Kingston, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, in Lowell, where she had lived the last few years.
Margaret was born Nov. 15, 1919, in Dutton, to Orval and Lydia Spears Callaway.
Margaret was a retired school teacher of more than 41 years, 36 of those at Kingston, and she owned Beard Grocery.
Margaret was a member of the Kingston Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ewell Beard; one son-in-law, Charles Allred; her parents; four brothers, Vorris, Clay, Clive and Dale Callaway; one sister, Gola Ammons; one grandson, Jeremy Weaver; and one great-grandson, Jacob Thaddeus Allred.
Survivors include: three daughters and two sons-in-Iaw, Julia Jo Allred of Marble, Nancy June and Gary Bowen of Lowell and Joyce Beth and Frank Weaver of Kingston; five grandsons and granddaughters-in-law; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces and a loving caregiver, Katie Collins.
Her funeral was held on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Kingston Community Church with Frank Weaver, Foye K. Johnson and Larry Johnson officiating.
Interment was in the Cecil Cemetery at Kingston under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.
