Edward J. Masi, 74, died Friday, August 5, 2016, at home.

He was born Jan. 12, 1942, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Mazza) Masi.

May of 1964, he married Maureen C. (Bourke) Masi, who survives.

He was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served for 20 years.

Ed was the owner and operator of The New Midway Inn since 1986.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool and darts and getting together with his family during the holidays. He was a very humble and good father and grandfather who never held grudges. He always took care of his family and enjoyed tending to his patrons at The Midway.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter, Bernadette (Masi) Fisher and husband Ernie of Punxsutawney; a son, Paul E. Masi of Punxsutawney; a daughter, Sonia (Masi) Levy and husband Rick of Punxsutawney, and also a daughter, Denise Stahl and husband David of London, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Sean Snyder and wife Shannon, Joel Vrobel and wife Krystal, Bryan Vrobel, Ivy Fisher, Vincent P. Masi, Sage Levy, Spencer Levy and Jarrod and Drew Stahl; a great-grandson, Sean Snyder; a brother, Frank J. Masi of Verona; a favorite nephew, Joey Devivo; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Bella, Dolly, Polly, Nancy and Anna; and four brothers, Johnny, Tommy, Billy and Joe.

Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2016, at the Deeley Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A private service will be held for the family. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
