Massena-Mr. Raymond P Barney, Sr., 87, died Aug. 3, 2016 at Massena Memorial Hospital.
Ray was born Oct. 19, 1928 in Brasher Iron Works, son of Willis and Pearl Rubado Barney and attended rural schools in Brasher Iron Works. Ray entered the USA Feb. 20, 1951 and discharged on Jan. 23, 1953. On Sep. 16, 1951 he married Mary Jane Amo at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massena. She died July 12th. Ray worked for the Town of Brasher Highway Department for 40 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Gerald R Roy Amvets Post #4. Ray is survived by his children, Raymond Barney Jr. of Massena; Ronnie and Sue Barney of Brasher; Kathy Stowell of Brasher; Randy Barney and companion, Lorie of Massena; Matt Barney and companion Luanne of Brasher; Gary and Valerie Amo of Helena; and Dale and Debbie Amo of Stockholm; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sisters, Judy Rubado of Brasher and Lorraine Spoor of RI. In addition to his wife and parents, Ray was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Lacombe; a son in law, Richard W Stowell; his brothers, Willis Jr., Leon Sr., Edward and Reggie Barney. A graveside service for Ray and Mary Jane at Calvary Cemetery, Massena. Arrangements with Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.
