Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late George Kirkpatrick Heriot, Jr. and DeMona Lee Moore Weinberg. He was a 1980 graduate of East Clarendon High School where he played football and baseball. He attended Winthrop College for 2 years and received a degree in Respiratory Therapy and Electronics from Greenville Tech. He was employed with Sanitrol as an electronics technician. George was a martial artist in Tae Kwon Do, enjoyed composing music and playing the guitar, and was an avid Gamecock Fan.
He was preceded in death also by his grandmother, Bessie Heriot, a sister, Terri Heriot, and an infant twin brother.
