The 1920 census shows her living with her brother, William Alexander Jr, his three young daughters and her son, Howard. She and her son lived with her brother who was a widow, having lost his wife Beulah in 1918. Their farm was located on Senseny Road in Frederick, Co. His brother Thomas lived just two farms down with his wife Mildred. There was a Carper family farm in between.
By 1930, the census shows her and her three children, Howard, Rosalie and Lacey Allen living with her older sister Carrie Belle Carlyle Russell on the Russell farm.
Bessie Maybelle never married. She died at home on 1 Feb 1948 at the age of 52 from "carcinoma of the breast" and is buried at Mount Hebron Cemetery next to her son, daughter and daughter-in-law.
