Son of Dorastus Fitch (1788–1860) and his wife Anna Hubbard (1798–1873)

Fayette married Letitia J Austell (1840-1888) in Campbell Co (now Fulton) Georgia. She was the daughter of William W Austell (1813–1842) and Mary Marshall Jones (1817–1873)

Fayette served in the Civil War joining in 1861 under Ramsey's Volunteers Inf Reg. out of Macon.

After the war, he entered the newspaper field and worked with the Atlanta Constitution. Later he owned and edited his own paper in Griffin, GA.

In 1885, he moved to the property near Harpersville, Al -- land his wife inherited from her Uncle Alfred Austell.
