John E. Clark, 71, passed away last Sunday evening at 7 o'clock, at the home of his son, Otto, living south of Francesville. Death resulted from a complication of troubles from which Mr. Clark had been a sufferer for the past several years. Mr. Clark was born near Edinburg, Indiana, on February 19, 1864, the son of Mr. and Mrs. K. B. Clark. His parents moved to Medaryville, Indiana, when he was but a year old, and he had spent his entire lifetime here and at that place. He was united in marriage to Louise Shafor, on February 27, 1887. To this union were born four children, three of whom survive, one daughter, Susie having passed away in infancy. For the past several years Mr. Clark has been engaged in the grocery business here in Francesville, until forced by ill health to retire. Surviving are his widow; three children--Nellie Malchow of Star City, Otto J. of Francesville, and Charles C. of Chalmers; two sisters--Cora Paris of Chicago, and Osie Campbell of Medaryville; five brothers--Oscar of Crown Point, Thurman, Dee, and Glenn of Medaryville, and Earl of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a member of the Medaryville Christian church, from which place funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, at one o'clock. Burial was it the Francesville cemetery.
