Services for Irene Enerson, 85, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 10 at Estherville Lutheran Church, with burial in the East Side Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Arrangements by the Carris Family Funeral Home.
Irene Corle Enerson was born to James Elmer and Ethel Adella Corle Campney on May 14, 1919 on the family farm near Curlew, Iowa. the family attended the Methodist Church at Mallard and Laurens. When the roads were too muddy, they attended the Friends Brethren church near their home. Irene attended a county school that was across the fence from their farm. She attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. She taught at Rush Lake School near Mallard with Mrs. Rausch, and then Oliver Johnson School near Curlew and finally at Greattinger, Iowa.
On February 17, 1945 she was united in marriage to Roy Enerson at Ruthven, Iowa, in her parents home. Roy returned to the Army to finish his tour of duty. Upon his returning home they began farming near Estherville, Iowa. She was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and also helped with 4-H. Irene's family, church activities, and entertaining friends and neighbors were very important to her, and there was always room for one more person at her table to share the meal. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and growing flowers in her garden.
She was preceded in death b her husband Roy in 1994, son Donald, her parents, sister Mary Campney, brother Hub Campney, and one great granddaughter Amanda Allen.
