Matthew Lee Barnhart, 28 years of age, of Beatrice, Nebraska, passed away at the Sunrise Country Manor in Milford, Nebraska, Friday morning, April 11, 2014. He was born on March 27, 1986, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Randall and Wahnema (Schidler) Barnhart. Matt was a 2004 graduate of Waverly High School. He has lived and worked at MOSIAC in Beatrice since 2005. Matt was baptized and a member of the American Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Matt enjoyed attending and watching car races, and music.
Survivors include his father Randy Barnhart and wife Valerie of Lincoln; brother Randy Wayne Barnhart and wife Jenni of Lincoln; nephews and nieces Coltin Ray, Makayla Ann, and Zoey Wahnema Barnhart; grandparents Arlen and JoAnn Michel of Avoca, Nebraska, Eula Schidler of Lincoln, and Ernest and ValJean McKeever of Wymore; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Wahnema (2003); and grandfather Robert Schidler.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Panama Presbyterian Church in Panama, Nebraska, with Reverend Darin Bentzinger officiating. Private burial of his ashes will be at a later date at the Avoca Cemetery. There will be no viewing, but a register book will be available for signatures on Tuesday from 10-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with the family greeting friends from 7-8:30. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM Wednesday at the church.
