"Capt. Robert Sewell, Veteran of 3 Wars, Dies at Age of 68:
Captain Robert Sewell, veteran of three campaigns between 1892 and 1902, and treasurer and former president of the Abington Memorial Hospital, died suddenly at his home in Rydal on Friday. He was 68. A native of Camden and son of the late U. S. Senator William J. Sewell of New Jersey, Capt. Sewell was a director at the Jenkintown Bank and Trust Co., a director of the Abington Police Association and active in other civic and municipal affairs. During the World War he served as chief of the Philadelphia division of the Federal Food Commission. Earlier in life he had served in the Jast Indian campaign, in Puerto Rico and the Philippines as an officer of TJ. S. cavalry and in the quartermaster department. His father, Senator Sewell, was a general in the U. S. Army, and his son, Robert Sewell, Jr., is an Air Corps cadet at Kelly Field, Texas. Also surviving, in addition to his son, are his wife, Beatrice Allen Bates Sewell, whom he married in 1901; two daughters, Mrs. Neilson Brown and Mrs. Elizabeth Wentz, and a brother, W. J. Sewell, Jr, of Chestnut Hill. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at St. Paul's Church, Ekins Park."
