Funeral services were held Monday, Sept 8, for Albert "Ace" T. Bourne, 80, one of Owen County's best known citizens. He died at his Monterey home on Sept 6 of an apparent heart attack.
"Ace", as he was affectionately known, had served as Justice of the Peace, Fourth Magisterial District, for 26 years when he declined to seek re-election to that leadership post in 1982.
Monterey cemetery superintendent and unofficial historian, he was an active member of the W. G. Simpson lodge and Baptist Church at Monterey.
Noted for his wit and commitment to the people of Owen County he took an active part on many county boards, particularly the hospital board.
A native of Owen Co., he was the son of the Albert T. and Mary Bradley Roberts Bourne.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; two sons, Victor, Monterey and Gayle Bryant, Frankfort; three sisters, Ella Lowdenback and Lula B. Kemper, Owenton, and Harriet Gayle, New Liberty, and two grandchildren.
Services were conducted by Ed Foley at McDonald funeral home, Main Street with burial in Monterey.
