Died--In Afton, Thursday morning June 19th of spinal disease, Miss Jessie Kirkendall, aged 21 years. Funeral will take place from the M. E. church Sunday, June 22d. Friends will be advised of the hour hereafter.

The deceased had been confined to her bed for the past two months, and for a fortnight before she died but little hopes were entertained of her recovery. A peculiarly sad feature of Jessie's premature death was her approaching marriage with Mr. E. S. Hoopes, who has the sympathies of the community. She leaves a mother, three sisters and a brother to mourn her loss.

In a later edition:
The funeral services of Miss Jessie Kirkendall were held at the M. E. church on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.. A very large audience was present. Rev. A. H. Collins delivered a very impressive sermon and the music was excellent. director Violet arranged the audience in a way that gave all an opportunity to view the remains and it occupied but little time. The remained were interred in the Afton cemetery.
