He was born in Preble County, Ohio; the son of Jacob P. and Catharine (Olinger) Wehrley. He married Tena Elizabeth Lantz on October 12, 1895 in Randolph County, Indiana, with whom he shares a headstone. To this union, two known children were born: Crilla and Evon Weherley. He was a carpenter by trade.

An inmate of the Preble County Home, William a Wehrley, 77, of the Eldorado community, died Thursday afternoon at the institution. Surviving are one son, Walter Wehrley, of Vandalia, O.; two daughters, Mrs. Rafrelt(?) Heeter of Mishawaka, Ind., Mrs. Jeff Priner(?), of Akron, Ind.; a brother, Joseph Wehrley of Richmond and three grandchildren. Services were held Sunday evening at the Miller Funeral Home in Eldorado with interment at the Monroe cemetery.
