Candoer McFadden Adams, Sr, 89, 615 Turrentine Avenue, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in a local hospital following an illness of three weeks.
A retired Southern Railway employee, having served as agent in Gadsden and operator in Attalla for 56 years, Mr. Adams was one of the oldest active members of First Methodist Church in Gadsden. He was a member of it board of stewards. Active in city politics, he was an alderman for 26 years. He was a native of Munford, Tenn.
Mr. Adams is survived by three daughters, Miss Louise Adams, Gadsden; Mrs. Roy Hicks, Montgomery and Mrs. Joe Ramey, Attalla; a son, C.M. Adams, Jr., Gadsden; five grandchildren, Neil, Maitland and David Adams and Dixie and Dan Hicks and three great grandchildren.
Burial will be in Forrest cemetery with Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.
