Samuel Graber, 94, of Goshen, formerly of Middlebury, died at 7:10 pm on Friday, October 1 at Hubbard Hill Estates, Elkhart. He was born on April 6, 1927, in Middlebury, to Abe and Robena (Roth) Graber. On December 24, 1947, in Middlebury, he married Adeline Kauffman, she survives. Survivors in addition to his wife of 74 years are daughter, Sonya (Tom) Miller of Middlebury; three sons, Lawrence "Larry" (Karen) Graber of Sarasota, FL, Mark (Yolanda) Graber, Samuel Jay (Grace) Graber both of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Riegsecker of Middlebury, Ruby (Floyd) Miller of White Pigeon, MI; two sisters-in-law, Cora Graber of Three Rivers, MI, Edna Graber of Middlebury. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Dean) Miller; stillborn son, John David Graber; six brothers, Dan Graber, Allen Graber, Ezra Graber, Joe Graber, Ervin Graber, Floyd Graber; three infant sisters. Sam spent time as a Sea-going Cowboy, a farmer and an entrepreneur. He purchased a housing development in Kodiak, Alaska from the government and re-sold houses to individual buyers. Sam enjoyed wood carving and was a great storyteller. He was a member of First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 5 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 6, at Miller Cemetery, 14153 CR 126, Goshen, for a graveside service. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 6 at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Phil Yoder. Memorials may be given to First Mennonite Church Mission Fund.
