Richard Lee Jarvis, Sr., 83, of Chesapeake, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016.
Mr. Jarvis was born in Camden County, NC. He was the son of the late Charles Lee Jarvis and Mary Margaret Patrick. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Lucy Mae Jarvis; two brothers, Charles and John Jarvis; and sister, Mary Margaret.
Mr. Jarvis served in the 5th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army and NATO Forces in the Korean War. He received distinctive service awards such as Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal and a Combat Infantry Badge. His Kindness in life was felt by everyone who knew him.
Survivors include his children, Debbie Seay (Glenn), Sandy Balancio (Jimbo) and Richard Jarvis, Jr. (Cindy); grandchildren, Renee Luciano (Ernesto), David Powers, Heidi Marie Jarvis, Ryan Powers, Heather Balancio and Savanna Balancio; one great-granddaughter, Madison Mcglynn; and sisters, Ida Mae and Alice.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday, July 15, 2016 in Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd. Suffolk, VA 23434.
