Clifford Tarter, 89, Somerset, Ky., died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006 at Britthaven of Somerset. He was born August 27, 1917, in Nancy, Ky. to the late Lem and Mattie Daulton Tarter. He was the owner of Tarter's Building Supply and was also a retired builder. He had also built numerous churches and commercial buildings in Pulaski County. He graduated from Nancy High School in 1939. He attended First Baptist Church in Somerset and Sunday School for many years and was a retired deacon. Survivors include two daughters, Janice (and Billy Joe) Thompson and Betty (and George) Thurman, both of Somerset; three sisters, Mollie Wallace, Somerset, Ruie Burton, Mo. and Anita Phillips, Ohio; a grandson, Jeff (and Kathy) Thurman; three granddaughters, Jo Ellen (and Scott) Whitaker, Tracy (and Eddie) Casada, and Lisa (and Bruce) Parkey; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Madeleine Compton Tarter, who died Jan. 25, 2003; and a sister, Opal Tarter. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will be at White Oak Cemetery in Nancy. The family of Mr. Clifford Tarter will receive friends after 6 p.m. tonight at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral home.

Clifford was a retired builder and the owner of Tarter's Building Supply, Survivors include; two daughters, Janice (and Billy Joe) Thompson and Betty (and George) Thurman all of Somerset, KY; three sisters, Mollie Wallace of Somerset, KY, Ruie Burton of Missouri, and Anita Phillips of Ohio;
