He worked for the former Palmerton Sand Quarry for many years, and later was a meat cutter for the former IGA Markets, Lehighton and Palmerton. He also did deer processing. Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Eugene and Helen (Sear-foss) Eckhart. He loved to go to the Lehighton Fire Company, where he was a member.Eckhart belonged to the Orioles Nest, Lehighton.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
He enjoyed hunting and rides on his electric scooter with his granddaughter. He loved his family.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three daughters, Deanna, wife of Norm Eckley, and Brenda, wife of Calvin Dorward, both of Lehighton, and Amber, wife of William Yesik Jr. of Palmerton; two sons, Gary, and his wife, Deb, and Robert, both of Lehighton; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Sterling, and his wife, Betty, of Palmerton, and Eugene, and his wife, Ruby, of Danielsville.
He was also predeceased by three sisters, Violet, Ruthanne and Geraldine; and a brother Edward.
Service: Funeral service 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, Mayes-Melber Funeral Home, 200 Franklin St., Weissport, with the Rev. Nancy Moore officiating. Interment, private. Call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to Compassus Hospice, 7248 Tilghman St., Suite 160, Allentown, PA 18106.
