Oakes Services Set Thursday

Last rites for Mrs. Nancy A. Oakes, wife of J. M. Oakes, who died in a local hospital last night, will be conducted at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon from the First Baptist Church.

Dr. J. A. Williams, pastor, will officiate. Pallbearers will be L. D. Hyser, T. M. Bruner, H. C. Pipkin, E. A. Demic, T. C. Mott and R. E. Underwood.

Interment will be in Llano Cemetery under the direction of N. S. Griggs and Sons.

Mrs. Oakes had been in ill health for several months but had been in a serious condition only a few days.

A native of Alabama, she had resided in Amarillo for the last 30 years. She was 60 years old.

Mr. Oakes is clerk of the Seventh Court of Civil Appeals here.

The family home is at 1007 Monroe Street.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Oakes is survived by two sons, John E. Oakes of Roswell, N.M., and James W. Oakes of Amarillo; a daughter, Miss Lucille Oakes of Amarillo, a grandson, John W. Oakes of Roswell, and a brother and a sister.
