Obituary of Dean Dickson

Dean Anthony "Tony" Dickson, 59, of Big Island,[Virginia] journeyed home on Monday, July 25, 2016. Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ruth Settlage and a brother, Doug Dickson.

Tony served in the U. S. Army and he retired from the Virginia Army National Guard. He was currently employed by C. W. Wright after retiring from the City of Bedford.

Tony leaves behind his wife of thirty-five years, Robin Jones Dickson; three daughters & sons-in-law, April Motley & husband, James, Brandi Reed & husband, Roger, Crystal Easterling & husband, Mark; his son & daughter-in-law, Dylan Dickson & wife, Ashley, as well as fourteen beautiful grandchildren, Wade, Emma & Grady Motley, Wilson & Macy Glasscock, Cody, Raeleigh & Braxton Reed, Andrew, Zach & Logan Easterling, Macayla Lindy, Kinley & Dakota Dickson. He is also survived by his father, Grover Dickson & his wife, Freddie; three brothers & sisters-in-law, Duane Dickson & wife, Sally Jo, Guy Dickson & wife, Wendy, Tim Dickson; two sisters & brothers-in-law, Sharon Smith & husband, Wayne, Crystal Engels & husband, Chuck and numerous nieces & nephews and other family members & friends that will miss his kind heart and spirit.

The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider your local fire or rescue squad.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10:00 am at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Rick Dellinger officiating and military honors by American Legion Post #16.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
