Theodore Day McDonald Jr., 82, passed away July 9, 2016, in Vancouver, WA., following a long journey with primary progressive aphasia. Ted was born June 4, 1934, in Tacoma, to Theodore and Elizabeth (Robbins) McDonald. He graduated from Olympia High School in Olympia, WA., in 1952 and earned a full academic scholarship to Yale University in New Haven, CT., where he earned his bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. Ted earned his master of science degree in pulp and paper technology from the Institute of Paper Chemistry, Appleton, WI. While there he met a Lawrence University girl, Coralee Jean Beck, and they were married in 1958 in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Ted and Coralee divorced in 1987. Ted is survived by five children from this marriage, 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In 1992, Ted married a classmate from high school, Nancy Craig in Olympia. Nancy preceded Ted in death in 2004. Ted was also preceded in death by his only brother, Robert McDonald in 2012. Ted was an engineer, technical manager, and consultant in the Pulp and Paper Industry for Weyerhaeuser Co. (Longview, Plymouth, N.C., and Federal Way, WA.) EKONO Consulting (Bellevue, WA., and Tallahassee, Fl.) and Champion International Corp, (Hamilton, OH). Ted and Nancy retired to Vancouver in 2000 to be near their families. Ted's greatest joy was his family. He was everyone's #1 cheerleader and celebrated each and every success and accomplishment. Ted was a member of the Baha-i Faith and will be remembered as a brilliant, caring, loving man.
