Dr. Barnes served in Co. F, 153rd Regt. PA. Vol. during the Civil War as a Dr. and as 1st Lieut. from 10-8-1862 to 7-24-1863

Henry R. Barnes enlisted in Easton on 9/22/1862. He was mustered in on 10/8/1862 in Harrisburg, PA. He mustered out on 7/24/1863 with his company. Henry was sent to guard Washington DC attached to the 1st Brigade, 1sr Division, the 11th Army Corps., Army of the Potomac. He marched to Fredericksburg VA. He was part of the “Mud March” in Burnside’s 2nd Campaign. He served at the Battles of Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. Bio by Peggy Spengler-Moser.
