Hartley Stratton Graham learned to fly in Colorado and attended Denver University. He was commissioned a Naval Officer in 1940 and flew with the Black Cat Squadron in the South Pacific during World War II. He married and he and his wife together with their family which eventually included five children, they moved around the worked and the US as Hartley trained foreign pilots. He also taught all five of his children to fly as well. After retiring Hartley and his wife settled in Vineland New Jersey.
